Marine Military Academy Tour Feb 2nd 2012
37 Hidden Valley Residents enjoyed the tour of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen. The academy is a college prep high school. It is a private school, no public funds are used. There are approximately 250 boys in grades 8 – 12. First year tuition is about $36,000. All the boys are in full military uniform. Cellphones, inter-net among other things are not allowed on campus. They live in military style barracks. The facilities are first class.
From the Marine Military Academy the group traveled to the Southern Fields Aloe farm. The group learned about the different varieties of aloe plants. Since it rained before we got there the group was not able to go out into the aloe fields. It was explained how the aloe plant is harvested and how it is prepared to be shipped.
